Dave McRae is a full-time professional voice actor and filmmaker based in Toronto, Canada, with nearly 25 years of industry experience. He is a four-time Voice Arts Award nominee, recognized three times for Outstanding National TV Promo - Best Voice Over, and once for Outstanding Body of Work - Best Voice Actor.
Known for his versatility, authority, and dynamic range, Dave is one of Canada’s most trusted and recognizable voices. His work spans hundreds of radio and television commercials, network promos, movie and game trailers, corporate and training videos, IVR, narration, and animation, heard across North America and internationally.
His movie trailer credits include Big Hero 6, Inside Out, IT Chapter One, The Lego Batman Movie, Get Out, Peter Rabbit, The Crazies, and The Descent, among many others.
Commercial and promotional clients include Big Brother Canada, Toyota, Staples, Red Bull, Lexus, Netflix, Cineplex, SCENE Card, Time Warner Cable, the Toronto Blue Jays, Disney Pixar, Dell, Rogers, LCBO, Lowe’s, Jack Link’s, Slim Jim, Tangerine, and The Shopping Channel.
Dave’s animation credits include Fireman Sam, DOKI, Tiny Tukkins, Where Oliver Fits, Luna, Chip and Inkie: Adventure Rangers Go, Super Wings, Lana Longbeard, the brand voice of Billy the Dinosaur on Barney’s World, and the voices of Ian the Duck and TrickAlien on Deer Squad, beginning with season four.
His voice has been heard on networks including CBC, AMC, NBC, TSN, CTV, CNN, CP24, Slice, Food Network Canada, YTV, Citytv, and in pre-roll advertising across social media and YouTube.

FILMMAKER:
Dave studied radio, television, and film at Niagara College’s Broadcasting and Film program from 1999 to 2001.
He co-wrote, co-directed, and co-produced the Black Christmas tribute films It’s Me, Billy and It’s Me, Billy: Chapter 2, unofficial sequels to the Canadian horror classic Black Christmas. It’s Me, Billy was nominated for Best Cinematography in the Dramatic Short category at the 65th Annual Canadian Society of Cinematographers Awards in 2022.
In 2023, Dave portrayed Freddy Krueger in the fan film Dylan’s New Nightmare, starring opposite Elm Street alumnus Miko Hughes (Pet Sematary, Kindergarten Cop, Full House, Wes Craven’s New Nightmare). His performance was widely praised by fans of the franchise.
Dave continues to collaborate with filmmakers in Canada and internationally and currently has multiple projects in development.

Dave is a well-known voice within the online horror community. He rose to prominence in 2018 through in-depth coverage of the Halloween franchise and has since become a regular presence in live streams and video discussions focused on horror cinema and genre storytelling.
As of 2025, his YouTube channel has over 30,000 subscribers and more than 9 million total views.
